I actually liked this recipe. Although I knew information technology would be on the banal side, I added these options to it and it was grand! :) 1 tablespoon worchester sauce 1 whole yellowish onion chopped two teaspoons garlic salt 1 teaspoon onion salt 1 heaping tablespoon minced garlic i heaping tablespoon of Knorr beef Boulion I didnt add garlic to hamburger untill the concluding 20 seconds of browning. And I added the worchester sauce to the milk. Mixed Knorr beefiness Bouilion into flour misxture. Instead of bread, I used penne pasta, and had fried okra on the side. All I needed was a trench and a canteen! But kidding! Succulent! :)

I would brand this again. It's like shooting fish in a barrel and cheap. After reading the reviews, here'due south what I did differently: Added chopped onion. pressed garlic and sliced mushrooms while browning meat. Used 1 bouillion cube and ii cans of cream of mushroom soup. Everything else was the aforementioned. Oh, I did simply proceed adding worchestershire sauce to taste. This dish was certainly thick enough to serve over toast or biscuits this way. I served mine with mashed potatoes and peas withal. Information technology'south but what I had on hand.

Always amend with some garlic added. Most raters miss the signal that this (at least in the Army I served in for 24 years) is a breakfast item. Pour the SOS over a pile of hashbrowns, then put a couple of over-like shooting fish in a barrel eggs on superlative of that. Cut through information technology all with a pocketknife then the runny yokes, SOS and hashbrowns are mixed. Then wolf it downwardly along with some stiff black coffee. That is a breakfast to assist yous face the day. For additional authenticity, eat outside, standing upwards, in the dark, on a cold morning, while whiffing deisel fumes from a nearby truck. Ah, the memories.

As many take commented the recipe as written is going to exist bland.(Sorry Suzanne). To brand this recipe a FIVE star endeavour the post-obit. As the meat is browning I add both garlic and onion powder, about a teaspoon of each to 1 lb, as well as the other seasoning. Be carefull with the salt however because beef bullion tends to be salty. I substitute a pinch of celery seed for the worcestershire sauce. I don't want the "batch" to be to brwn. My kids beloved it!

This was much better than just hamburger gravy. Information technology'due south a fast and simple recipe and most people have all the ingredients on manus. The kids loved it! It's improve if yous melt the beef with the flour coated on it long plenty for the flour to brown a little. This will get an easy staple!

I have never cared for the taste of plain, unseasoned ground beef, and then I liberally seasoned the browning beef with garlic pulverisation, Lawry's season common salt and pepper. I also added a one-half an onion, diced, to the beefiness. I really didn't mensurate the Worchestershire sauce, just let some bobble on out of the bottle, but I'm sure it was more than one/iv teaspoon. I too added a loving cup of frozen peas with the milk. I served this over refrigerated jumbo whomp biscuits from a paper-thin can. Very comforting and good. Will definitely brand again.
11/26/2002
I didn't feel similar cooking all nighttime so I decided to try this recipe. It was fast, uncomplicated, and very fulfilling. I added a medium sized onion, a clove of garlic, and five big mushrooms. I served it over rice and it was just fantastic!! It is a existent keeper. I will surely make information technology again. Thank you lot very much for the submission Sue.
04/04/2003
This is a good recipe. I personally accept tried a packet of AU Jus,fresh mushrooms, garlic and chopped onions and when making this. Mix the Au Jus in about one cup of hot water and add together to ingredients. This will give it a richer flavor.Nosotros love it over mashed potatoes !

With the exception of using a burgoo cube rather than powdered beef base, this recipe is an accurate Army recipe. I prepared this breakfast favorite for Rangers in Savannah, GA hundreds of mornings and rarely had leftovers. If you lot brand double portions (or save half of what's left) it'southward a cinch to plow this product into Beef Strogganof! Just add sour cream, mushrooms, salad dressing and boil some egg noodles. Makes dinner a breeze! Rangers Lead The Way!

Pretty skilful and easy although DH did non care for information technology. Definately needs more spice if yous like more than flavor. Next fourth dimension I'll die some onions and mushrooms and saute the mushrooms while the ground beef is cooking. I topped mine with Mrs. Nuance and a tiny fleck of Lawry'south Seasoned Common salt and information technology was keen! Definately not something for someone who bases tastes on looks (that's my married man! He turned up his nose and took i bite and said "I don't like information technology"). I call back kids would like it...my ane twelvemonth old seemed to. Give this one a try and spice it up...quick and easy!
03/05/2003
I loved this recipe! Even though I was out of the worcestershire sauce it all the same turned out great. I added an extra boullion cube to brand up for information technology. In the future, I'm going to effort adding sour cream or perhaps cream cheese...maybe even mushrooms. A very good, basic recipe that has infinite possibilities.
08/31/2000
Quick to brand and tasty. A lifesaver on busy evenings.

Ah, yeah, SOS, "a fine grind of meat and vegetables in a creamed-base sauce" is how Army and Air Force 'menus' described information technology. I usually saute minced onion and garlic along with the ground beef. I add together lots of finely footing blackness pepper forth with salt after cooking the flour in and adding/reducing the liquid. Another tasty addition is poultry seasoning (or ground sage). Go easy with the seasonings until virtually the finish--flavors can and will concentrate as the liquid is reduced--remember, you tin ever add together more and cook them in for a few minutes. I rarely use Worcestershire, which can add together sweetness, as does milk. If yous employ cream, the result isn't quite as sweet (milk adds that property to a 'cream'-based gravy) or, if like me, yous want to cutting those calories, use nonfat condensed milk (unreconstituted) instead.. Immediately after adding the liquid, the SOS should exist thinner than you lot similar it--it should exist simmered for xv minutes or and so to blend and mellow the ingredients (no 'raw flour taste this way) If the end result is too thin, cook it longer; if as well thick, add together a scrap more liquid than you like and melt down. This is a very good ans easy base recipe, and 1 that most guys I know (at least the ones that like ground beef) enjoy; certainly about ex-service people (and often service brats, too!). Of course, equally another reviewer stated: to exist authentic, information technology should be served on toast.
12/14/2011
Very bland as writen, follow the many tips found in the reviews and you've got a winner!
04/19/2011
I cooked SOS nearly daily in the Army and I can tell y'all, the beefiness burgoo and the Worcestershire sauce accept got to go. They do not add to, but only take away from true Army fashion SOS. In place of using those ii items use garlic pulverisation and when browning the ground beef of at least 80/20% lean to fat add ane/2 cup chopped onions. Please have a bottle of hot sauce on the table for your dinners to further their military tastes.

My husband is active duty for xx+ years. I made this tonight - as wrote (added a pocket-size cube of cream cheese - but I would never tell him) - and he said information technology was "dead on" what the Army serves. I did use alot of pepper - every bit that is how he likes his. This is not meant to be a gourmet meal with mushrooms, onions, garlic, etc. It is great if that is how y'all similar it - but soldiers eat it equally wrote - banal and all. This is a really good recipe - my hubby said information technology takes him back to drill sgt. school when after being on the trail for days on in - this was an ultimate comfort nutrient.
05/17/2009
Made this the other night for the family unit. From the second helpings they had, I'd say information technology turned out pretty skilful. I did add/omit a few ingredients to the recipe to pep up the meat. two cloves of minced garlic. 1/3 onion (diced). Omitted the bouillon since I didn't have information technology. Added garlic powder, onion pulverisation, mrs. dash, and lots of fresh cracked pepper. I served over bowtie pasta.
08/02/2006
It definitely needs spicing up. Granulated onion and garlic, Lawry's seasoned salt and pepper both... My hubby and I happen to love this kind of "meal" every now and and then... with Ore-Ida hash browns and the shingle. Thanks for the post!
04/25/2006
mmm, this one REALLY hit the spot! i did make a bunch of little changes to the original recipe though. I added 2 cans of mushrooms, i/2 cup chopped onions, one Tablespoon garlic powder, 2 boullion cubes full, and 2 teaspoons of Worchestershire sauce total. (I hate when people post all these changes and and then say, "Oh yeah, this recipe was fantastic," but i can't resist, cuz it really WAS adept with these changes!! I tried to include measurements so ya'll can do it this manner if you'd similar.) Anyhow, with my modifications, it had a GREAT flavour and was a VERY warming, stick-to-the-ribs type dinner over some toast! Plus, it was easy and quick!! A winner in my book!
05/20/2000
Love this recipe! My begetter use to make this in the winter time for Breakfast for his six children. Stick-To-Your Ribs kind of meal. Kept usa warm on our long walk to school. He too used Chicken Broth in identify of Beefiness Broth. Yum
07/30/2002
This was pretty bad. It was bland, even afterwards I incorporated some of the others' suggestions and added spices. It looked and tasted like congealed meat.
02/xvi/2008
I make a similar recipe. Swell served over biscuits too.
11/23/2005
I fabricated this one night because I needed a quick dinner. Although information technology doesn't look very flavory, don't permit looks fool yous. I added onions and frozen peas and my kids loved information technology! And so did I. I served it over noodles and rice. Yum, Yum, I'll definitely be making this again. Thanks!
04/09/2010
Everyone loves SOS! Growing upwardly in a war machine family, we always knew when it was the stop of the month and coin was tight! The Worchetershire sauce added a lilliputian zilch!
10/26/2007
This is just like my Dads. Merely he added onion, garlic powder, and a nuance of red pepper. I fabricated information technology tonight and served over biscits with fried eggs. Very comforting and Piece of cake!
04/16/2003
I read all of the negative reviews and have i thing to say....endeavor it for breakfast on toast or biscuits. That'south how my family has eaten this for years and it is a Christmas morn tradition. The only difference is we do not add the worcestershire or beef bouillion. A trick - by a packet of dry white gravy mix to add to the mixture as it is simmering, it will thicken it right up like sausage gravy. It is great!!
03/06/2008
oh no...this was similar lumpy paste. I followed the recipe hoping it was similar a dish a friends mom made when I was a child...non it. If you're staring at a pan of this stuff right now wondering how you're going to choke it down.. 1. DISSOLVE 2 more than cubes of boullion in about half of a cup of water and add slowly. 2. stir and let simmer a while longer to thicken up again. 3. Salt Salt Common salt. Information technology's non great and I still have the gustatory modality of kindergarten paste in my mouth but at to the lowest degree I didn't accept to cook annihilation else this evening.
12/03/2010
I really liked this. I added the extra spices suggested. I recall it was a one-half tsp of onion and garlic powder. I too added quite a scrap of pepper. In that location were no leftovers and it was nice modify.
xi/14/2006
Very good, and quick! I did make some changes. I used ground chuck, instead of ground beefiness, and added onion and garlic pulverisation while cooking. I couldn't stand up the thought of adding the flour to the hamburger grease (likewise fattening), so I drained the grease, and added about a cup of water earlier adding the flour. I likewise used 2 burgoo cubes, instead of 1, and added a tin can of low fat foam of mushroom soup. Served over No Yolk egg noodles. Yummy!
06/19/2009
Used browning flour which adds a lot of sense of taste. As other reviewers, I added onion and garlic. Very pleased.
08/13/2013
Im giving this v stars because information technology is the basic style to brand SOS those who are complaining that it is on the Bland side keep in mind a recipe of this nature is NOT meant to be perfect on flavor (although in my opinion this one does non lack there) this type of recipe is designed to feed the masses, large groups of people, or families on a upkeep and demand a filling meal. THIS is what it is. If you need more than season may I suggest table salt and pepper to gustation. Chop up a RED ONION take a can of peas drain information technology and add together it to the mix.... I have addicted memories of the type of dish this is, Growing up with a divorced mom she always made sure the kids were not only fed but full. This SOS kind of dish was one of my favorites served on top of toast> Let me tell yous if there was a way to brand ends meet in the kitchen my mom could do it. Thank yous for posting this recipe and taking me back to my mothers dwelling cooked gotta feed the kids kind of cooking. I had her recipe merely sadly lost information technology, this one was very close to hers.
01/09/2003
I thought this was wonderful! I had nothing in my house to make for dinner and so I got on the internet and found anything that I could cook with what I did have (which was very lilliputian). I came beyond this recipe and I had all the ingredients so I made it and to my surprise it was very yummy. This has made it into my dinner rotation. I did add more Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and seasoning salt. I also browned a small-scale onion in with the meat. At kickoff I was going to serve it over biscuits but after I made it I couldn't imagine eating it like that then I made egg noodles instead. Good option! I think there was plenty gustatory modality to it simply next time I will play around with information technology to see if it is possible to brand it better. Thanks for adding 1 more than dinner to my rotation.
01/27/2011
Quick, easy meal for cold winter nights.
03/14/2007
My mom used to make this all the time. My Dad was in the navy so he was quite familar with it. My husband and I were both in the Army and I was never one time served this, but that is neither here nor there. We make this with footing turkey, minced garlic and onion, an extra dash of wort, sauce and salt and pepper. The most of import function: to be authentic it must be served over buttered toast. S.O.S stands for Due south*** on a Shingle. Shingle being buttered toast. Thank you for the recipe.
12/28/2010
Definitely took me back to my childhood - a nice recipe to share with my kids, when I feel the need to cook recipes from my past!
02/xi/2008
YUM!! I made this tonight for dinner, served it over egg noodles with green beans and huckleberry cobbler. I didn't use the worsch. sauce or the beefiness boulion considering I didn't have either, but I did add garlic and onion powders and lots of black pepper. Very good!
10/22/2007
The recipe is similar to mine and thus I know it is superb, merely the picture you got on that recipe is not what SOS looks like. I can give you a proficient paradigm to go with that recipe.
02/06/2012
I was thinking that this recipe done exactly equally listed would be a bit bland. I used only a one-half pound of beef, and cut the ingredients in one-half, too except for the bouillon cube. I still used a whole i. I didn't have any Worcestershire sauce but I substituted with a quick sprinkle of soy sauce. I added some garlic table salt, diced onions, tiny bit of onion pulverization, pepper, and dill weed. The whole thing came out marvelous!!! If the original recipe had more spices, this would definitely be a five star rating!!
08/28/2006
Cheers for the memories. My mom used to make this for me when I was a kid. We chosen it hamburger gravy. I used white meat ground turkey seasoned with garlic powder, flavour common salt, pepper and lots of worchishire and no beef broth. I also added a can of mushrooms and served it over Grands biscuits. YUMMY.
07/24/2002
I thought it was a pretty bland; needs something to spice information technology upwards a bit. Instead of but milk, try a can of cream of chicken soup, plus enough milk to bring it to desired consistency. Attempt sauteeing some onions in with the ground beef. Much better this way!
12/20/2002
This is a nifty recipe -- quick and piece of cake and real condolement food. Yummy with mashed potatoes or biscuits. I similar to add a chopped onion while the hamburger is browning. I also add a little extra worcestershire sauce.
12/12/2007
Why not just make sausage gravy. Much more than flavor.
01/xiv/2003
Loved it. I added some mustard and a clove of garlic and it only lifted the flavour a picayune. We oasis't descided yet if we like it better with pasta or with potatoes. Both are great. Some other idea is to add together hot sauce (nosotros like spicy nutrient.) Terrific condolement food if you lot're having a bad twenty-four hour period !!!!!
03/26/2008
This does not sound great, simply I really like information technology. I used cream of mushroom soup instead, and added some worcestershire. Information technology was neat comfort food, dainty with rice, noodles or potatoes. The kids like this as well!
01/21/2009
A good stick to your ribs nutrient and quick and easy meal. I sometimes utilize dried beefiness in the jar, but bang-up with hamburger too. Like biscuits and gravy but for dinner. Yum. Never any leftovers.
02/01/2009
Really peachy simple comfort food recipe. My whole family totaly loved it!
01/14/2012
I grew upward on this recipe, as my male parent was in the military. It has always been a favorite for me. My husband grew upward with it too, and his version is really good. He browns the basis beef longer than normal, so it seems to take on more than season. He'southward as well very liberal with the seasonings--garlic salt, seasoning salt (I know, it's a lot of salt) and pepper. He also always includes diced onion and of class the worcestershire. I love information technology served over toast, and he likes it over potatoes.
05/03/2010
My husband said SOS on the send he was in the Navy was blood-red. I don't know what it was colored with unless information technology was paprika or catsup. Anyway, he gave the recipe every bit written a 3 rating. Information technology was OK merely I recollect I'd zip it up with Season All or some garlic and onion pulverisation adjacent time.
02/24/2008
A very skilful comfort food! I mixed the flour into half and half instead of milk, and i added sausage and minced stale onion to the beefiness while cooking, because to me,ground beef is just besides banal past itself in this recipe. Hubby gobbles it upwardly!
05/02/2000
This was then good! I served it over mashed potatoes and my family unit loved it. Reminds me of the Hamburger Gravey I used to eat as a kid.
03/11/2003
This was really skillful! It looks terrible, yes, but it'southward very nutritious. High in Calcium. I added onions, peppers, and tomatoes. I had a complete repast! I am always looking for ways to increase my daughters calcium intake and this was very like shooting fish in a barrel! We ate it on toast "simply like the soldiers exercise!"
07/xiii/2004
I cook twice a week for a grouping of veterans and a couple weeks ago they threw out the challenge that I couldn't make SOS for them..the Ground forces manner. Well, when they said that, I said, "Wanna bet?" I won the bet. They devoured this like starving vultures. It is easy, quick and can exist served over toast, plain bread, biscuits (which is what I used) rice or potatoes. I didn't change anything, But I did accept a basin of finely chopped onions and then they could put their own on elevation which is how we ever ate it. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
09/30/2002
Very quick and easy. I added more than worcestershire sauce and I used ii boullion cubes because the meat was water buffalo which has no flavor. Nosotros had it on top of biscuits. My husband loved this in the army and he notwithstanding does. Thank you for the recipe.
02/14/2008
I wasn't a fan AT ALL of this recipe. I felt like I had to eat it then I did, merely it was not flavorful at all and I added onions and way more worchestire sauce. (I also made it exactly as directed.) Information technology also looked nearly as proficient equally information technology tasted. Yuck! Non a keeper. I can't believe information technology got then many proficient reviews.
12/26/2003
Seeing how most thought this recipe was too bland, I decided to add together the sauteed onion and garlic. This still wasn't enough for me so I increased the Worchestire sauce and also threw in 1/4 c. of onion soup mix! It turned out very expert, I would reccomend this to the ones who recall information technology's bland.
12/05/2007
Information technology is a niggling bland which is why I gave information technology iv stars, just I added some garlic pulverisation and sauteed the beef in olive oil and that gave him some flavour! Otherwise, it is great! :)
04/14/2003
This was pretty gross. I call back you need the memories that go with this one to make it edible. Would not go far once again as noone would eat it in my family. I made it with the foam of mushroom soup (I even used the total fat version) and onions and more worcestershire sauce.
04/11/2003
I took the advice of others and added an onion, a tin can of mushrooms, 1 tsp. of garlic pepper instead of the pepper and increased the worcester to a teaspoon. Served information technology over mashed potatoes. Information technology was fast, easy and good.
05/23/2000
I fixed this for my husband and my little niece that was visiting, I don't know which one ate more. He said to definetly keep this recipe, she replied requite it to my mom she could even brand this.
06/08/2000
I was a melt in the Marines and our recipe chosen for "corn starch." It makes for a sweeter gustatory modality. It also had no worchestershire sauce in information technology.
07/16/2009
Were I thought this was okay, my husband loved and if he was writing the review it would get 5 stars. He ate his over eggs and had it a second dark. I ate mine over toast and simply had one nighttime... Then for our business firm mixed reviews.
08/05/2006
This recipe is nifty, thanks! I used extra lean ground beef, non-fatty milk and some footing red pepper; didn't have a bouillon cube. It was delicious. Over toasted light wheat bread, one serving is about 200 calories. One flim-flam is to put the non-fat milk in a covered container forth with the flour and milkshake vigorously to blend (exist careful lid is secure). Then cascade the milk and flour mixture over the meat, stirring constantly until fully thickened. I'm thinking of making this once more and adding a piddling onion powder.
07/18/2014
This is fantastic!! I have a family of 5 that I am feeding, and iii of them have very hearty appetites. So I doubled the recipe and it was perfect. I added one large chopped red onion, and though I doubled everything, I added extra beef bouillon cubes (4). And did not add together any salt. This recipe reminds me of my days in the armed services. Those who claim it'southward bland are forgetting it's called ARMY SOS. still I did not find it bland at all. This is a quick piece of cake meal to make as well as delicious, and very inexpensive if on a budget. This is a keeper, even my fussy picky eaters honey this and always get seconds.
10/xx/2010
Really yummy with my simple modifications. Added 1 chopped onion, sauteed with the ground beefiness, then a few chopped garlic cloves toward the end. Add together good shaking of garlic pulverization, along with the black pepper and a few shakes of tabasco sauce, which actually gives more flavour than punch. A full T of worcestershire and iii or so Tablespoons of white vino. Also added chopped, fresh parsley at the terminate. Added more than milk for more foam to serve over mashed potatoes. A family-loving meal!
09/xviii/2008
This recipe was simple but good. I did add a few more spices to information technology. Would probably get in over again former.
eleven/21/2008
Wow! My dad was a chef in the Army and this is almost exactly his recipe. I love how this turned out; creamy, flavorful, and swell over buttered toast, served with a fried egg on top and a side of fried potatoes. Adept thing we just have if once in a while.
08/06/2010
I made this and it was wonderful!! I used chicken stock ( Nearly 1/2-3/four cup) instead of burgoo and added garlic powder. I also halved the milk.
08/03/2009
My family did not care for this recipe. I added onions, mushrooms & bell pepper.
09/28/2014
Tried and true like shooting fish in a barrel dinner.
01/12/2003
I made this for dinner this evening and it was a hit! My hubby asked what I was making and he remembered his mom making this when he was a child. He said she served it over boiled potatoes and then that's how we had it. This one's a keeper. Thanks Suzanne for sharing.
07/18/2008
I'd never even heard of this before and I made it. When bf got home he was sooo excited! He said in the army he ate this for breakfast served over biscuits- and then I made some biscuits and nosotros chowed down- this was an awesome dish that I'll be making once more very soon!
09/19/2010
This was uncomplicated and VERY piece of cake! My Husband who is stretching his cooking wings made this without mishap and it turn out fantastic. Information technology is very heavy and I tin can imagine not very calorie-free on the fat and calories simply it is REALLY Practiced! My husband added a tin of peas to this and it made a great ane dish meal!
11/02/2010
Expert recipe and very easy to make. Good substitute for a stroganoff if your family doesn't like mushrooms
01/13/2011
This was a mess hall regular during WWII according to my dad. We had it on a regular ground. My mother made it the same way she made dried beef & sausage gravy. Nosotros e'er served it over toasted staff of life. Its was a fairly inexpensive way to feed a family of viii. I grew up and made it my own by adding chip of garlic powder and a tablespoon of carbohydrate and lots of fresh ground pepper. Information technology is very similar to stale beef gravy or sausage gravy.
12/17/2007
This is skilful, if you lot like beef gravy. Personally I call up there are better things to exercise with footing beefiness. Withal, only a few revisions. Add together 3 garlic cloves and try Miso Soup paste instead of Beefiness Buillon. Miso Soup Paste is LOADED with flavor and all natural - no chemicals!! It actually does add together real depth to this dish.
03/31/2009
YUMMY! Very quick & easy to make! My husband who "hates SOS" licked his plate clean & asked for 2nds, & 3rds! I didn't accept the worcestershire sauce and then I added 3 bullion cubes instead of the i. Information technology turned out great! The picture does not do this dish justice! We ate information technology on elevation of lightly buttered toast. I am not large on leftovers simply this was only as good warmed up! Next fourth dimension I volition endeavour the worcestershire sauce. I am sure it will all the same be just as delish!
04/nineteen/2012
This is a nifty recipe! It's economic, quick and easy to make. My husband loves information technology. I fry the hamburger up with i small onion, then add a couple hearty dashes of hot sauce to the gravy. Wonderful dish!
01/03/2007
this was absolutly discusting. my husband refused to eat it and my girl, who is more often than not very good, only picked at information technology.i added all the 'extras' suggested by other reviews, but not only was it banal but information technology was the texture that was actually bad, it was gummy and claggy and stuck to your mouth. i will under no circumstances make this recipe again
01/25/2008
Everyone loved it and asked for more!! It'due south good! Good to make when you're in a pinch.
06/20/2012
This was very easy and I also like many others added more spices. I added one-half of a sweet onion, few dashes of cilantro, garlic salt, onion powder and 1 clove garlic. My kids liked it alot over the egg noodles. Thank you for the submission!!!
02/xi/2008
this recipe was not as proficient as information technology looked. lacked in flavor...
11/14/2002
FAST & Delicious! Used two boullion cubes and a fair amount of blackness pepper for the extra "bite!" Served over biscuits. Family unit loved information technology! Very versatile every bit tin serve over potatoes (of any form) rice, noodles, toast or any bread. Although not the best presentation, but still gets five stars because of easiness, taste, and versatility.
12/30/2007
This was dandy! Growing up we didn't take much money and I call up eating something very similar to this recipe. Just proves y'all don't have to sped a lot for a corking sense of taste.
02/06/2012
This was good. I added garlic and onion and it was a fiddling bland equally others mentioned. Withal I would make this again. I served it with egg noodles and everyone ate without complaint.
12/18/2002
pretty good recipe. definitely easy and fast. taste is a niggling banal. Next time will add onion and seasoning common salt.
02/17/2008
After reading some other reviews, I added onion, mushrooms, garlic and other seasonings. Pretty good and my hubby liked it. Quick n easy.
09/10/2004
My hubby loved this!!! I added sauteed onions and galic. I served information technology over the galic cheddar buscuits as was recommended.
01/18/2011
I honey this stuff, yes I put onion in it. I've always liked to serve it over mashed potaoes.
11/30/2003
I would give this recipe a 5 stars still I had to change a few things in the recipe. I cooked 1 chopped onion and i stalk of celery with the basis beef and added 1/ii cup of green peas near the end. Good recipe, DH loved information technology, it was alright for me, and my 2 yr old, who usually isn't picky, preferred the plainly noodles. I added a compression of salt and 2 beef boullion cubes and let them dissolve in the water for the noodles (Riggatoni noodles was all I had on paw). I added i tablespoon of the noodle water, when the noodles were done, and added it to the beef mixture when adding the beefiness boullion cube. I also took the advice of other users and added extra ingredients for seasoning. I sauteed 2 chopped garlic cloves in with the beef. And added a pinch of red pepper flakes, and 1 tablespoon parsley when adding the salt and footing black pepper. I likewise gave the flour time to brownish before calculation the milk and worcestershire sauce.

This probably would have been pretty bland had I made it following the recipe exactly. Instead, going on what others reviewed, I:
sauteed half a med. onion, chopped & four cloves of minced garlic before adding ground beefiness
increased the Worcestershire to most 1/4 cup
cut out the common salt entirely and added i/ii tsp. to 1 tsp. of paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, meat tenderizer & parsley.
my husband had his with shredded cheddar cheese on superlative
We are non a fan of bland food and my married man and I liked it enough to accept it as leftovers for lunch the side by side day. We had it over toast, although I call back if/when I make it again in future, we'll try like another suggester and have it over garlic toast.

My husband despises creamy sauces, so I made this for my kids and I while he was out of town. I tweaked it a scrap by sauteing chopped onions and sliced push mushrooms with minced cloves of garlic for a few minutes before adding the ground beef. I also added quite a flake more Wor. sauce than the recipe calls for. We had it over Minute Rice and loved it!
